Chicken Wing Challenge

Over the past three days, I have had wings at three different establishments. Friday at South Turn in Daytona, Saturday at The Brickyard and today at Booth's Bowery.  Wings at the South Turn are always good, with  fair hot sauce. At the Brickyard the wings were hugh with a very good hot sauce, but at Booth's the wings are great and the Suicide sauce can't be beat!
I'd rank the three,  Booth's, Brickyard & South Turn. But you can't go wrong at either place. All are very good! Suicide sauce was the clincher for me.

Ireland has Chicken Wings

We've been driving through Ireland the past couple of days and we've found chicken wings are served here. We visited the Wolftrap Pub in downtown Tullamore, home of my favorite whiskey, Tullamore Dew! Ordered the chicken wing appetizer, for €5.95. Got 7 wings with a garlic barbecue sauce on a bed of fresh greens. Very well done! Wings weren't as large as in the USA, but were meaty and saucy. Liked them very much. I will rate them a 3 & 1/2 out five.

Publix Deli Chicken Wings

Felt it was time to expose take home versions of chicken wings. Our local Publix deli has some awesome chicken wings!
There naked hot wings are awesome. Just the right amount of heat and with my homemade hot sauce added they are excellent.  I use a mixture of catsup, mustard, barbecue sauce, blackening seasoning, wing sauce and a sauce from Blue Ridge Georgia, from an apple orchard, no less. Mercier Orchards, whose Five Pepper Sauce is one of the best I've ever had! Packs some heat but not too much. By mixing with it other ingredients it becomes a fantastic hot sauce for wings.

Back to Booth's

Went back to Booths today. Sat at the bar and Misty waited on us. Hands down the best bartender around. Ordered wings, of course, along with Suicide and barbecue sauce on the side. Got some hot garlic sauce by mistake, but low and behold, it was excellent. The hot garlic sauce instantly gives you a burn in the back your throat, but not too hot.  Just right! So now I have a dilemma. Which two sauces to get next time. Suicide and hot garlic or suicide and barbecue?  Oh, what the hell, I'll get three! Again, it was awesome, meaty wings, perfectly cooked. I recommend sitting at the bar, you won't be disappointed. Thanks, Misty!

Booth's Bowery

Yesterday we went to Booth's Bowery, in Port Orange, Florida for a late afternoon lunch.  We've been there many times before, so all was very familiar to us.  I've had their wings many times, but this was my first visit since I've started this Chicken Wing Quest Blog.  I ordered 10 wings, naked with their Suicide sauce and mild Buffalo sauce on the side. And they were delicious!  They always cook them perfectly and the side of waffle fries made it a great combo.  The wings are large and both the flats and drumettes are loaded with meat and dipping them in the Suicide sauce....ahhhhh!  It's hot, but not too hot.
I have given Booth's Bowery a 4-1/2 out of 5 wings.  Great place to eat.  You'll break a little sweat, especially if you're dipping the fries in the sauce too!  Make sure you have a cold draft beer.  Misty, their bartender is great, she serves the drafts up very cold.  You'll need that! My choice of beer was a draft Bud Light with a lime.  A couple of 16 ounce drafts will get you through 10 wings.  While you're there, enjoy the views.  There are so many things to look at while your eating.
Booth's is located at 3657 S. Nova Road, Port Orange, Florida.  There phone number is 386.761.9464.

Caribbean Jacks Daytona Beach

Chicken Wings with celery and Bleu Cheese
Last night we went to Caribbean Jacks in Daytona Beach to watch the Dewey Rose Band play.  They are one great local band.  They play rock, country, funk, disco and blues.  Check them out at www.deweyrose.com
While we wee waiting for them to get set up, I order an appetizer of 10 hot buffalo wings and a cold Bud Light draft.  I wasn't disappointed. The wings were hot & meaty and the sauce was very good.  A little heat after eating a couple, but not too hot.  Still not a fan of the celery being in the same basket as the wings, as the celery tends to warm up a little too much for my taste. The wait staff was fantastic, always on the ball and never letting us run out of anything.  Overall I have to rate the wings to three and 1/2 out of five wings.
Caribbean Jacks is located at 721 Ballough Road, Daytona Beach, FL., their phone number is 386-523-3000.
